hi and welcome to New Dorp High School home of the central cougars seven years ago we began to rejuvenate our school by creating a smaller learning communities since then put graduation and attendance rates have increased student involvement is at an all-time high and you don't High School is now a model school for instruction not just in the city of New York but Across the Nation we pride ourselves on being a family here and our success mainly stems from our staff and students working together how to reach our goals most recently our Student Union decided to take remodeling one step further and begin admission to completely overhaul the school library with educational goal focusing on College and Career Readiness we wanted to make our library reflect ones found at the University level with so many of his passing through on a daily basis during lunch. body hauling extended day we were determined to create a space that would motivate us to work even harder lounges to be created where students could gather to do research work in groups comfortably study and most importantly feel like we are sitting in a college campus Library to learn and exceed educational expectations is it been working together to tear up carpet and put down new tile paint the walls removing sort through books and outdated resources and refurbish old bookcases to make them look new but we are looking to do a lot more to complete that college feel what more can we use machines and magazine subscription working printers can we get TVs in a louder get those so this is how we like to spend the $10,000 on the school and students asking them what they like to include in the new library save us a lot of great ideas and I took it upon myself to make a schedule which I learned in computer-aided class for mr. pain I went ahead and I did this very sketch up the way with the students of do a flight to look we put in high bar tables with iPads connected to them that are locked down to students can check out anything that they like online as well as ABS calculators whatever you can think of we also have Separate Tables where they could sit if they bring their own laptops they can do group work at the tables they can work on homework projects together tell us a nice little sitting space as well as two new copy machines that they can use to make copies print out anything that they want for class and maybe they forgot to print it out at home it's all for the students most importantly we wanted everything to be cost-effective so that it be better for you to revise a high school in the long run it's 2:20 here in New Dorp an day has just begun our football team is recording for study hall and other students are hanging around to work on homework reports research or just to relax before hitting field going to a job for heading home together we've begun the process to create a truly beneficial space but our entire School Community with the help of the very generous reward New Dorp High School can continue to promote Innovative mind and motivate students to work hard to get to the next level thank you for your consideration

New Dorp High School JROTC lowering the flag in honor of all those lost on September 11th.

On September 11, 2001, thirteen years ago today, our world changed forever. It was a day filled with horrific events that will forever remain sketched in our minds and hearts. We, as a nation, were devastated, but not defeated. Families were broken, but not destroyed. Our faith was shaken but hope was not lost. It was a day when 2,983 Americans were taken from us too soon and the pain of that will always remain as strong as it was that day.

Thirteen years later, memorials now stand in the place where the towers once stood demonstrating America’s resiliency and strength to rebuild. From this day forward, the memorials will be a constant reminder not only of what we have endured, but also of our ability to come together in the wake of tragedy, with limitless compassion.

I’m sure that every individual in our building, our city, our state and our nation can recall exactly what they were doing and where they were when they received the horrific news of that day. Time passes so quickly that it is hard to believe that our present 9th grade class was just 1 year old and most of our seniors were only 4 years old. This means that nearly every student who enters New Dorp High School as a 9th grader after this year, was not even born before that day. This makes it even more important that we remain responsible as educators to keep the students of the future informed about what happened that day and how those incidents have shaped the history of our country.

We must never forget to thank our first responders, veterans and current service men and women who have protected us and continue to keep us safe. We thank them for their sacrifices, their sense of duty and their service to our country.
