Sept. 18, 1983, 22 years later and still one of the greatest days in my life. I grew up on Reno Ave. The old New Dorp was on Cannon Blvd. Farrel was on Tysens Lane. Reno was in the middle of the two. Back in the 70's the rivalry was never greater. Kids on my block were divided, not me. I was a Central, from birth. All my brothers and my sister went to ND. I knew early in life that I bled green and gold.
So, on that glorious day in September 1983, my teammates and I went up to the top of Tysens Lane, into the Lion's Den, and we kicked their butts, from the opening kick off, to the final play of the game. It was never close.
22 years after the fact, it is still up there as one of the greatest days in my life. My wife would kill me if I didn't put my wedding day and the births of our children ahead of that day.
