Year 1984
Memoir I graduated from New Dorp the class of 1984. That was the second graduating class from the "NEW" school. I moved to Staten Island from Miami the summer of 1982. I lived on New Dorp Plaza and New Dorp Lane. At the time my family wanted me to go to Farrell, but all the neighborhood kids went to New Dorp. I hung out mostly with the guys from the hockey team, Riehie freo, Jimmy and kenny grifo, Joey latugia, these were all my friends whom I truly miss to this day.The MAN who changed my life was the band leader Nino Moreale. In 1983 I played second chair trumpet, First chair was carmine glariso. We had a great band that year. The trombone section was awesome, the whole band was just great. Nino told me the following year was my year, and he held me to that. In 1984 I was first chair trumpet. I fondly remember Nino throwing his baton through the sax section as he held us all to a high degree and expected only the best. That year a freashman named Jill tyler also played trumpet. She was awesome AS a freshman. I will always love Nino and Lenny for pushing me to be the best. I sure do miss those high school years, but most of all I miss my old friends.
