Memoir
I was in Miss DelBello's Geometry class when we heard the news 'The president is dead'. Oddly enough, when I first heard it I laughed, thinking it was a joke. Then the realization became all too real. Many of the girls were crying. The boys just looked helpless. The rest of the day was a blur. I can only remember being glued to the B&W TV set at home, watching everything that transpired after, the swearing in of LBJ, the pink blood-stained outfit of Jacqueline Kennedy, the funeral, John-John saluting, even seeing Jack Ruby kill Lee Harvey Oswald in that prison garage days later. It was surreal. The world changed that day. I changed. I actually have many pleasant memories of NDHS but, forty years later, this one still sears through my pshche.
