The Corporate Center for Business & Technology is designed to prepare students with the skills needed for success in college and the workplace through multi-year coursework encompassing the latest trends within the Business and Technology industries. Our Entrepreneurship program, is a NYS approved CTE program, that earn students a technical endorsement on their high school diploma. We offer two areas of concentration within Entrepreneurship: Virtual Enterprise and Software Engineering. Each concentration offers our students a robust, real-world and transformative curriculum to enhance the comprehensive education they are receiving at New Dorp. Internships, scholarships, college level and advanced placement courses are available through the application process. Students participate in numerous competitions, field trips and conferences that complement their learning while in the program.

VIRTUAL ENTERPRISE

The Virtual Enterprise (VE) program is "an in-school, live, global business simulation that offers students a competitive edge through project-based, collaborative learning and the development of 21st-century skills in entrepreneurship, global business, problem solving, communication, personal finance and technology." Students learn finance, marketing, information systems, economics and international business.

SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

The Software Engineering Program (SEP) “is a comprehensive standards-aligned computer science and software engineering education program for grades 6 to 12… that develop student computational thinking and problem-solving skills in real-world contexts." Students learn how to use various software applications/tools such as Scratch, Arduino, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Processing, App Inventor, Python, and Java.
