New Dorp High School’s Shadow Program is designed to introduce prospective 8th grade students to life as a Central Cougar in one of our eight smaller learning communities (SLC). Students will be introduced and assigned to a current freshman in the SLC of their choice and will accompany that student throughout the day. Students participating in the Shadow Program should arrive at 8:00 AM and stay until dismissal at 2:18 PM. Students should bring a bagged lunch with them. While at New Dorp, your child is expected to follow New Dorp High School’s rules and regulations.
Students may only shadow 9th graders. Please know which SLC program your child wants to shadow when you set up the appointment. Due to demand, we can only accommodate one shadow day per student. No student will be permitted to shadow without a scheduled appointment. Once we receive your request, our admissions staff will contact you.
